The standard Switch has a 6.2-inch screen and detachable controllers, the OLED model upgrades to a sharper 7-inch screen with better colors, while the Lite is smaller and lighter but can't dock to a TV. Choose the Lite if you play handheld only, the standard Switch for flexibility, or the OLED if you want the best screen quality.
The console comes with 32GB (64GB for OLED), but most games require a microSD card since many titles are 10-50GB. Get a 128GB or 256GB card for a decent game library without constantly managing storage.
The OLED upgrade is worth it if you play handheld frequently and want vibrant colors and a larger screen—otherwise the standard Switch plays identical games. Skip the OLED if you mainly use TV docking or play casually.
Test that controllers respond smoothly, check the screen for dead pixels or scratches, and verify the console turns on and connects to Wi-Fi. Ask the seller if it's been banned from online play, as Nintendo can restrict consoles for account issues.
You need the subscription only for online multiplayer and cloud saves—single-player games work fine without it. If you mainly play local games or solo titles, you can skip the subscription and save money.
